Marketing Strategy and Target Market

Most market women in Eastern and Greater Accra buy their vegetables (garden eggs) from other Sector of Ghana, specifically Ejura (Ashanti Region), Volta and Brong Ahofo. Some of the vegetables is imported into these Regions. That’s producing in the Eastern Region will create market for DarDec Links Company Ltd and reduce the cost and risk involve in transporting the produce to the final consumer. This will also ensure continuous supply of vegetable in the off season.

Students are busy and feel a little reluctant going to the market after a long day’s lecture and studies. Moreover, buying in bulk may not necessarily be the priority of most students; hence, packaging according to the students’ preferences and requirement will make it easier and convenient to them on delivery. The target School is Valley View University but University of Ghana and other Universities in Accra will be added later on the marketing line.

Opportunities

Vegetable is part of every meal taken by 96% of Ghanaian population every day. In Ghana, production is mostly in the rainy season (April- November) this creates shortages in the dry season, mostly December to June. Thus producing in the dry season help the farm to position itself in the market, since there few firms producing under irrigation across the country.

Most of market hawkers along the Eastern Region- Accra highway depend on fresh corn as livelihood in the on season. These women are displaced of as result of shortage of fresh corn supply in the off season leading to seasonal employment. Thus producing fresh corn under irrigation in the off season sustain the hawkers in the creating marketing opportunities for DarDec Links company Ltd.
